Shanxian Museum

Shanxian Museum is a regional museum affiliated with the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Shanxian County. It is a public welfare institution with departments including conservation, exhibition, security, and administration. The museum is located at Guangsheng Hall in Xiguan, Shanxian County, covering an area of over 6 mu, with a construction area of 1,200 square meters, renovated exhibition rooms spanning more than 500 square meters, and a storage area of 300 square meters. The main building features a brick-concrete structure with a majestic and solemn exterior. It officially opened on May 18, 2001.

Shanxian Museum houses a total of 1,715 cultural relics and over 5,000 ancient books. These items have been acquired through collection, purchase, archaeological excavations, and donations from the public. The collections are categorized into stoneware, pottery, porcelain, metalware, calligraphy and paintings, jade artifacts, ancient book copies, and miscellaneous items. Among them, there are 26 pieces of stoneware, 193 pieces of pottery, 133 pieces of porcelain, 150 pieces of metalware, 79 pieces of calligraphy and paintings, and 1,134 miscellaneous items. Notable collections include the "Huang Shen · Flower Album" (Qing Dynasty). The "Huang Shen · Flower Album" was acquired through private purchase and showcases the full scope of scholarly artistic achievement, offering a glimpse into the artist’s unique style.

The permanent exhibition at Shanxian Museum is titled "Exhibition of Fine Cultural Relics Collected in Shanxian," covering an exhibition area of 300 square meters. It is divided into seven sections: stoneware, pottery, bronze ware, jade artifacts, porcelain, calligraphy and paintings, and miscellaneous items, displaying a total of 61 relics. Among the highlights are a Shang Dynasty pottery li tripod, a Spring and Autumn Period li-ding, a Song Dynasty imitation Zhou Dynasty ding, a Song Dynasty white porcelain bowl, a Ming Dynasty Cai Kou underglaze Longquan plate, a Ming Dynasty zhu ban, a Ming Dynasty bamboo carving figure, and a Ming Dynasty duck-shaped inkstone. With the rapid development of the local economy and cultural sector, Shanxian Museum serves as a window to showcase the distinctive culture of Shanxian and greets visitors from all over with a renewed look.
