Introduction:

Shangbu Hu Family Village faces south with its back to the north, bordered by the Fu River to the west and south. There are seven late Qing Dynasty buildings arranged in two rows, front and back. The front row consists of the estate of Hu Qizuo, a wealthy brush merchant, covering an area of 1,800 square meters. The estate has three buildings in a row, each with nine bays, spanning over 700 square meters, with a plaque reading “Loyal and Upright Family Tradition.” The estate is enclosed by a wall, and the buildings feature brick, stone, and timber structures with windows incorporating European-style decorations. The rear row consists of four ordinary old residential buildings, covering a total area of over 800 square meters.

Wen'gang Town: Located on the Gan-Fu Plain in Jinxian County, Jiangxi Province, Wen'gang Town is widely known as the “Brush Capital of China” and is famed for its brush-making industry. It lies to the east of National Highway 316 and the Beijing-Fuzhou Expressway, to the north of the Wenhou Expressway, and to the west along the Fu River. It is also the hometown of Yan Shu, a prominent statesman and poet of the Northern Song Dynasty. The town administers 16 village committees and 5 neighborhood committees, covering a total area of 54.53 square kilometers (including an urban area of 3.8 square kilometers), with 26,000 mu of arable land and a population of 70,000, of which 30,000 live in the urban area, making it one of the more urbanized towns in the region.
