Zhelin Lake is situated in Yongxiu County on the northwestern edge of Jiangxi Province. It was created when Asia’s largest dam intercepted the Xiu River, forming the largest artificial lake in Jiangxi and crafting this naturally stunning scenery. Zhelin Thousand Island Lake spans 308 square kilometers across Yongxiu, Wuning, and Xiushui counties. It is currently a major hydroelectric project in Jiangxi, primarily for power generation but also serving flood control, irrigation, navigation, aquaculture development, and tourism. To fully develop and utilize this exceptional tourism resource, often described as “first-class air, first-class water, and beautifully island-dotted mountains,” the Yongxiu County Government has so far introduced over 40 tourism investment projects, with a total investment of 478 million yuan. Twelve scenic spots have been completed, and four major areas—Taohua Creek, Huangjing Village, Lujiayan, and Mengsheng Mountain—are taking shape. Meanwhile, a large number of sightseeing and reception facilities are under construction. This area has become a key scenic attraction in Jiangxi Province. Zhelin Lake is set to become another remarkable new travel hotspot in southern China and is an ideal destination for leisure and vacation.

Transportation

Public Transport

1. Take a train or bus from Jiujiang or Nanchang bus station to Yongxiu, then transfer to a minibus to Zhelin Lake or Yunju Mountain.

2. Direct buses from Jiujiang to Zhelin and from Nanchang to Zhelin are now available, with a journey time of approximately 95 minutes.

3. Take a train to Yongxiu Station, then take a rickshaw for 2 yuan per person to the bus station. Buses to Zhelin depart roughly every 20 minutes from there.

Self-Drive

Take the Changjiu Expressway and exit at Aicheng (closer than the Yongxiu exit), then follow National Highway 316 through Qiujin, Baicha, and Sanxiqiao to Zhelin (about 200 meters after exiting Sanxiqiao Town, watch for the sign to turn left off the highway).
