The former site of the General Front Committee of the First Front Red Army and Mao Zedong’s Former Residence is a classic red tourism attraction.

The former site of the Third Meeting of the General Front Committee of the First Front Red Army and the former residence of Comrade Mao Zedong is located at Qiu Family Ancestral Hall on Xiajie Street, Shaziling Village Group, Qingshui Village, Xujian Town, Guangchang County. On May 27, 1931, after leading the First Front Red Army to capture Guangchang County and achieve victory in the fourth battle of the Second Counter-“Encirclement and Suppression” Campaign, Comrade Mao Zedong stayed here. On May 28, the General Front Committee of the First Front Red Army held its third meeting during the Second Counter-“Encirclement and Suppression” Campaign here, with attendees including Comrades Mao Zedong, Zhu De, Peng Dehuai, Lin Biao, and others. The meeting reviewed the Guangchang battle situation, unified the thinking on continuing the eastward advance, and made the strategic decision not to attack Nanfeng but to assault Jianning. This meeting played a pivotal role in the Second Counter-“Encirclement and Suppression” Campaign and laid the foundation for its complete victory.

The site and exhibition room cover an area of 452.36 square meters. The main entrance is inscribed with the stone-carved plaque “Qiu Xiangyuan Ancestral Hall.” It is a Qing Dynasty brick-and-wood structure building. The exhibition room displays some of the weapons and daily utensils left behind by the Red Army during the anti-“Encirclement and Suppression” Campaign in Guangchang. It serves as a window for Guangchang to promote itself externally and for revolutionary tradition education.

On December 13, 1972, Comrade Deng Xiaoping and his wife Zhuo Lin visited Jiangxi for inspection and made a special trip to this site. On September 2, 1999, the former Vice Chairman of the CPC Central Committee—Comrade [name omitted]—visited the site to pay homage and immediately inscribed the words: “Honor the great achievements of Chairman Mao Zedong and pass on Mao Zedong Thought from generation to generation.” In July 1995, the Guangchang County Party Committee and County Government jointly designated the site as a Guangchang County Patriotic Education Base. In July 2000, the Jiangxi Provincial People’s Government announced the site as a Provincial-Level Cultural Relics Protection Unit. In September 2004, the Propaganda Department of the Fuzhou Municipal Committee designated the site as a Fuzhou City Patriotic Education Base.
