Lixiang Shuicheng Water Conservancy Scenic Area in Wei County is located in Wei County, Handan City. Built along the city’s surrounding water system, it is a urban river-lake type water conservancy scenic area, covering an area of 38 square kilometers, including 8.2 square kilometers of water area. Relying on the eastern water network of Handan City, the scenic area has developed an urban river-lake water system. Projects such as the “Five Rivers and One Bay, Five Lakes and One Source, Thirty-Six Bridge Landscapes” and the small circulation area in the southeast of the city have been successively completed, forming a 66-kilometer river-lake water system around the scenic area and over 9,000 acres of ecological water surfaces. The area boasts picturesque scenery and lush vegetation, and has established a framework centered on water city sightseeing, water leisure, pear blossom appreciation, and the experience of original ecological culture. Wei County, where the scenic area is located, is the birthplace of Chinese Wei culture. During the Spring and Autumn Period, King Wei Wen established his capital here. The region is a blend of Qi-Lu and Yan-Zhao cultures, with long-standing traditions of Wei culture, water culture, dragon culture, ancient Yellow River culture, and Zhang-Wei culture. In 2009, it was recognized by the United Nations Group of Experts on Geographical Names as a China Historical and Cultural Famous Town—Millennium Ancient County.
