The Deng Ancestral Hall of Houfang, Xinfeng

The Deng Ancestral Hall of Houfang, Xinfeng is located in Huamenlou Group, Houfang Village, Xinfeng Township, Yihuang County, about 5 kilometers from the township government. It faces south, with Junfeng Mountain to the east, Yangzhou Ridge to the south, Huangshui River to the west, and Dongxin Road to the north, covering an area of approximately 500 square meters.

The Deng Ancestral Hall of Houfang was first built during the Guichou year of the Yongzheng reign (i.e., 1773 AD), jointly constructed by brothers Guochao and Guoyu, sons of the 26th-generation Deng family member Yibo. The exterior of the hall features a four-sloped roof design, while the interior has converging eaves and includes a central courtyard. On the east and west sides of the courtyard are observation towers. The hall is divided into upper and lower sections: the upper section is called the “Hall of Gratitude,” and the lower section is the “Council Hall.”

During the Cultural Revolution, the Deng Ancestral Hall of Houfang also faced adversity and was once converted into an oil press factory. After the reform and opening-up period, the oil press factory moved out, and descendants of the Deng family raised funds to renovate the hall, restoring its original appearance.
