Thirty-Ba Water Conservancy Scenic Area is located at the junction of Luocheng Town, Gaocun Town, and Jiulong Reclamation Farm in Wanzai County, about 30 kilometers from the county seat. Covering a total area of 2,100 hectares, the scenic area features a waterway stretching 10 kilometers in length with a water surface area of over 3,000 acres. It is the largest and best-preserved typical subtropical forest ecosystem in western Jiangxi. On March 20, 2001, it was approved by the People's Government of Jiangxi Province as a "Provincial Nature Reserve." The reserve boasts overlapping forests, interlacing peaks, undulating mountain ranges, picturesque scenery, and a pleasant climate. With its majestic terrain, vast waters, and lush vegetation, it is rich in flora and fauna—including 126 species of woody plants from 35 families, among which 18 are rare species under national or provincial protection such as the southern yew, Phoebe bournei, and Semiliquidambar cathayensis. There are also 48 species of wild animals from 29 families, including 23 rare species under national first or second-class protection such as the Mrs. Hume's pheasant, silver pheasant, mandarin duck, clouded leopard, rhesus monkey, sambar deer, and pangolin. This is a pristine land untouched by pollution and a paradise filled with joyful mountains and laughing waters. With the development of various sightseeing and recreational facilities, it will become an ideal getaway for urban tourists seeking leisure and relaxation.
