The Jiulong Primitive Forest Scenic Area in Wanzai County is a national AAA-level tourist attraction. Located in the northeastern part of Wanzai County, Jiangxi Province, it covers an area of 42 square kilometers, with forested land spanning 39 square kilometers, accounting for 93% of the total area. The area enjoys convenient transportation, bordering CheShang Township and Fangxi Town of Yifeng County, and connecting to Luocheng Town and Gaocun Town within the county. It is 37 kilometers from Wanzai County, 34 kilometers from Yifeng County, 64 kilometers from Shanggao County, and 98 kilometers from the Mingyue Mountain Scenic Area in Yichun. The scenic area is just 7 kilometers away from the Wanzai–Yifeng highway. With abundant natural resources for sightseeing, it is an ideal destination for tourism, leisure, and vacation. The area is home to the renowned Jiulong Temple. Legend has it that the undulating mountain mists and uniquely shaped peaks resemble nine distinct mountain peaks, referred to as the “Nine Dragon Veins.” At the convergence of these nine veins stands the Jiulong Temple. Locals visit the temple to pray for favorable weather and a bountiful harvest. The scenic area boasts abundant water resources, with mountain streams flowing from northwest to southeast across the region. The water is of high quality, with strong and steady flow, minimal seasonal variation, and an 8.8-kilometer rafting course has been developed, making it a perfect spot for summer rafting and water play. Waterfalls are scattered throughout the mountains, with five major ones, among which the Jingkeng Waterfall is the most spectacular. The waterfall valley is deep and narrow, with the stream cascading down steep cliffs like a dragon soaring into the sky, creating a stunning visual spectacle.

The scenic area is home to 13,500 species of plants across 135 families and over 120 species of animals from 20 families. The rich flora and fauna bring endless vitality and charm to the natural landscape. Towering ancient trees and evergreen broadleaf forests create a dense canopy. Rare tree species such as yew, metasequoia, Chinese fir, torreya, nanmu, camphor, and monkeyface tree add splendor to the lush woodland. Nationally and provincially protected animals, including macaques, clouded leopards, silver pheasants, mandarin ducks, owls, pangolins, leopard cats, flower foxes, and yellow muntjacs, are frequently spotted. Stepping into this area feels like entering a magical world filled with birdsong and floral fragrance, leaving you mesmerized and enchanted.
