The former site of the Red Flag Newspaper Office of the Hunan-Hubei-Jiangxi Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China is one of the important historical sites within the former revolutionary base area of Hunan-Hubei-Jiangxi.

On April 15, 1932, the Provisional Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China in Hunan-Hubei-Jiangxi founded its official newspaper, the Red Flag, in Xiaoyuan (now Xianyuan). This newspaper was mainly aimed at promoting the Party’s political principles and various specific policies, guiding the work of Party organizations across the region, exposing the rumors and deception of the Kuomintang, mobilizing the people of the Soviet areas throughout the province to join the army and participate in the war, and consolidating and expanding new Soviet areas. The newspaper was printed in a 4-page, 2-column format, with an approximate circulation of 1,500 copies, and published nearly 70 issues in total. It featured sections such as “Domestic and International News,” “Provincial and Regional Highlights,” and “Red Army Briefs.”

In addition to editing and printing the Red Flag newspaper, the Red Flag Newspaper Office was also responsible for producing temporary publications such as the Red Flag Bulletin, the Political Information Newspaper, and the theoretical journal Transformation Monthly, playing a significant role in the revolutionary struggle of Hunan-Hubei-Jiangxi.
