Ten Thousand Buddhas Zen Temple

Ten Thousand Buddhas Zen Temple is located on Chenghuangmiao Road, Kang Le Subdistrict, Wanzi County, Yichun City, Jiangxi Province. Originally named Chenghuang Temple, it faces west and is built with brick and wood, featuring firewalls, flush gabled roofs covered with green tiles, stone pillars, and stone bases. The temple complex consists of five interconnected sections, spanning a width of 30.36 meters and a total depth of 113 meters, covering an area of over 5,000 square meters. It houses, in sequence: the Front Hall (the temple’s entrance hall, housing statues of Maitreya Buddha, Skanda, and the Four Heavenly Kings), the Bell and Drum Pavilion, the Mahavira Hall, the Guanyin Hall, the Chenghuang Hall, and the Goddess Hall.

Originally built as Chenghuang Temple in the third year of the Hongwu reign during the Ming Dynasty, the temple underwent multiple renovations during the Ming and Qing dynasties. In 1997, the People's Government of Wanzi County renovated the front hall and renamed the site “Ten Thousand Buddhas Zen Temple.” Later, through private fundraising, more than fifty deity statues were added inside.

Kang Le Subdistrict: Located in the southeastern part of Wanzi, Kang Le Subdistrict is the seat of the county government and serves as the political, economic, and cultural center of the entire county. The subdistrict features flat terrain and convenient transportation. It lies 165 km east of Nanchang (the provincial capital), 168 km west of Changsha, 30 km south of Yichun, and 119 km north of Liuyang in Hunan Province. The area is traversed by the Yichun–Wanzai Expressway, Tongguan–Wanzai Expressway, Changsha–Lishui Expressway, and National Highway 320, while the Xianggan and Wanfang Provincial Roads run east-west across the region. Covering an area of 46.86 square kilometers, the subdistrict administers 10 administrative villages, 9 community neighborhood committees, and 144 villager groups, with a registered population of 121,000.
