Shuikou Pagoda

Shuikou Pagoda is a cultural tourism attraction.

Ganzhou’s Shuikou Pagoda is located on the western bank of the Meijiang River, one kilometer south of Ningdu County. Originally built in the Year of Renchen during the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty (1592), the pagoda has seven stories and eight sides on the exterior, features double eaves, a wooden central pillar, and an inner spiral staircase built into the walls. It stands 39 meters tall, with a base circumference of 34.56 meters. The structure consists of three parts: the outer wall, inner corridor, and central core. Stone steps in the inner corridor provide access to all levels. One door each is set on the eastern, western, southern, and northern sides of the central core and outer wall, allowing visitors to climb and enjoy distant views. The four directional doors on the ground floor’s outer wall are inlaid with relief carvings of the Eight Trigrams, aligned with the natural cardinal directions. Many bricks inscribed with the year “Renchen of the Wanli reign” still remain. The pagoda boasts a rigorous structure and unique design, making it one of the finest examples of pavilion-style brick pagodas. It has been designated as a provincial-level cultural heritage site.
