Introduction Located about 8 kilometers northwest of the city center in Dongzhenwei Village, Chantai Township, Putian County, Dongzhen Reservoir is one of the major reservoirs in Fujian. It serves multiple purposes including irrigation, flood control, power generation, navigation, aquaculture, and tourism. The dam is 360 meters long, 58 meters high, and 8 meters wide at the top, standing like a huge barrier across the valley between Tianma and Dilong mountains, blocking the stream that flows down from Jiuli Lake in Xianyou and forming an artificial lake covering an area of 10 square kilometers with a water storage capacity of 435 million cubic meters. In 1962, Guo Moruo visited Putian and composed a poem in praise of the reservoir. Today, Dongzhen Reservoir has become an emerging tourist destination. Boating on the shimmering waters is a delightful experience. The picturesque peaks and lush forests on both banks complement the clear blue waters beautifully.
