Ruiyun Ancestral Temple

The Ruiyun Ancestral Temple is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

The Ruiyun Ancestral Temple houses 29 murals painted in 1917 (the 6th year of the Republic of China) by the renowned traditional Chinese painter Li Geng. Among them, the two side walls of the upper hall feature 25 murals depicting the life story of Lin Longjiang, the founder of the “Three-in-One Doctrine,” titled “Illustrations of Lin’s Journey” (originally 30 murals, with 15 on each side wall; the lower part of the right wall originally had 5 murals that were damaged and later restored by later generations); the lower hall features four large landscape paintings including two of the “Four Great Scenic Spots of Xianyou”—“Caixi Rock” and “Nine Carp Lake,” as well as “Dragon’s Roar” and “Tiger’s Roar,” totaling 29 murals of various sizes. The site also includes affiliated cultural relics such as the Guanyin Hall and Ruiyun Tower. It is located in Chipi, Zifeng Community, Duwei Town, Xianyou County. The Li Geng murals at Ruiyun Ancestral Temple were designated as a Fujian Provincial Cultural Heritage Site in 2013.
