Shengquan Palace

Shengquan Palace is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Shengquan Palace is located in Shengquan Natural Village, Shengquan Village, Likeng Town, Xianyou County. It was first built during the Song Dynasty, rebuilt in the 21st year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1895), and renovated again in 1980. The palace covers an area of 290 square meters, faces south with its back to the north, and consists of a front hall, main hall, corridors on both sides, and wing rooms on either side. The main hall is three bays wide and two bays deep, featuring a post-and-lintel timber structure with a flush gable roof. The site preserves five Ming and Qing dynasty gilded plaques, four gilded couplet boards carved in relief, as well as a large stone inkstone and brush rest from the Song Dynasty. Shengquan Palace was designated as a Fujian Provincial Cultural Heritage Site in 2009.

Shengquan Village: Currently part of Likeng Town, Xianyou County, Putian City, Shengquan Village is a subordinate administrative village located in the Shengquan Basin, about eight li south of Xianyou County. The village covers an area of 10 square li. It includes three natural villages—Zhengzhai, Wangzhai, and Zhongyang—and is divided into 12 villager groups. The village has 560 households and a population of 2,468.

[Land Transportation] Shengquan Village is an ancient settlement dating back to the Tang Dynasty and enjoys very convenient transportation. An ancient Tang-era post road runs north-south through the village. To the north, it leads through Xiancheng, and onward to Yongtai, Yongchun, and Dehua counties; to the south, it goes through Jiaowei Town and directly to Putian City and the provincial capital of Fuzhou; via Fengting and Hui’an County, one can travel down to Quanzhou.
