Murals at Yuxin Academy
The murals at Yuxin Academy are a cultural heritage site protected by Fujian Province.
Yuxin Academy is located in Guokeng Natural Village, Longteng Village, Bangtou Town. Originally built in the late Qing Dynasty and renovated in 2000, it faces south with a total width of 16 meters and a depth of 13.85 meters, covering an area of 222 square meters. Along the central axis, it consists of the entrance hall, courtyard, and main hall. The entrance hall has three bays in width and three columns in depth, featuring a post-and-lintel structure; the main hall has three bays in width and three columns in depth, with a flush-gable roof and a post-and-lintel timber-frame structure. The building is compact and sturdy, reflecting the architectural style of the Qing Dynasty. Notably, the 14 murals created here in 1950 by renowned painter Li Geng, including "Ten Kings of Hell" and "Confucianism, Taoism, and Buddhism in Summer," are the most significant cultural treasures of the academy. The academy enshrines Lin Longjiang, the founder of the "Three-in-One" teaching, and holds relatively grand ceremonies on the first day of the Lunar New Year and during the Mid-Autumn Festival each year. Yuxin Academy is a typical representative of local academies and holds certain research value. The murals at Yuxin Academy were designated as a cultural heritage site protected by Fujian Province in 2009.

Longteng is one of the earlier-developed and more populous administrative villages in Bangtou Town, where villagers live together in harmony. The local customs are simple and honest, and for thousands of years, the people have struggled diligently through many trials. However, due to historical limitations, until shortly before liberation, the people of Longteng had not been able to break free from feudal, isolated, and backward conditions.
The origin of the place name "Longteng" is said to date back to the Song Dynasty when there was a place called Xikoumen.
