Baishong Village

Baishong Village is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

“In the twilight, gaze at the sturdy pines; along the ancient path, listen to the rustling of pine waves.” In recent days, Baishong Village in Shufeng Township, Xianyou County, has welcomed wave after wave of visitors, all drawn here by reputation to witness the spectacle of its century-old pine forest. This lush, graceful pine grove can rival the welcoming pines of Huangshan Mountain, leaving visitors in awe, and is honored as “Fujian’s No. 1 Village of Century-Old Pines.”

Shufeng Township is located in the northwest of Xianyou County, about 15 kilometers from the county seat, making it the closest mountainous township to Xianyou. Shufeng is also a provincial-level ecological township and a provincial agricultural tourism demonstration site, known for its specialties such as loquats, indigo, golden fruit, and rich in eco-tourism resources. Covering a total area of 6.8 square kilometers, Baishong Village boasts century-old pines, thousand-year-old banyan trees, ten-thousand-year-old ginkgo trees, and hundred-million-year-old metasequoia. Notably, over 400 century-old pines in the village are majestic and robust, with well-formed crowns, clustered leaves, and upright trunks—some so thick that it takes two or three people to encircle them. From April to May last year, the film *Yanyu Lige* (Misty Parting Song), produced by the same team behind *Assembly*, was filmed here. The drama incorporates numerous Xianyou tourism elements, including the scenery of Baishong, Xinghua folk songs, and the “Xianzuo” craftsmanship.

There is a 2-kilometer-long ancient post road dating back a thousand years. The area along the road features pristine vegetation, abundant natural resources, classic stories, and profound cultural heritage. To the west of Baishong Valley lies Nanhu Ancient Stockade, built during the Ming Dynasty’s Wanli era. The stockade is surrounded by steep cliffs, with a flat top, and currently houses a Ming-era Nanhu Royal Mansion, which remains well-preserved and is considered to have significant archaeological value. Baishong Valley wraps around the mountain foothills, with ancient villages scattered throughout, making it truly a scenic wonder.

Baishong Village: Also known as Xikeng Village, Baishong Village earned its name from the hundred century-old pines within the village. It is located in the northwest of Xianyou County, adjacent to Shexing Township. About 15 kilometers from the county seat, the village covers a total area of over 80 square kilometers, with a population of more than 300 households and around 1,400 people. The village is divided into 8 villager groups; apart from two groups with over 200 people of other surnames, the rest are all surnamed Wei. In the early years after liberation, it was part of the same administrative village as Shangkun Village in Shexing Township, collectively called Shangxi Village. It became an independent village named Baishong Village when Shufeng Township People’s Commune was established.
