Xianyang Ningguo Temple

Xianyang Ningguo Temple is a national AA-level tourist attraction and a cultural tourism site.

Said to have been originally built during the Tang Dynasty, the long-renowned Ningguo Temple is indeed quite grand in scale. The existing main and side halls all retain the architectural style from their reconstruction during the Qing Dynasty.

The main hall of the temple is old and simple, like a weather-beaten elderly man silently witnessing the rise and fall, honor and disgrace of this ancient monastery. Next to the hall, there stubbornly grows an old and upright ink tree, like a loyal guard that has always stayed by the side of this weathered elder, never leaving or forsaking, forever together. The long ancient stone steps and the wild expanse strewn with thick, randomly lying ancient stone slabs, pillars, and boulders evoke thoughts of the temple’s former glory — when its architecture was magnificent and incense offerings burned as fervently as fire.

According to research by Mr. Chen Zhiyi, former director of the county museum who retired many years ago and a member of the provincial historical and cultural academy, the flourishing period of Ningguo Temple is inseparable from the contributions of Master Zhengjue and Chen Dang.

In the northwest corner between the two halls of Ningguo Temple, there is a waterfall over thirty meters high that never dries up year-round. Like a Milky Way falling to earth, the huge curtain of water cascades straight down, with splashing droplets, swirling mist, and a majestic momentum, making it a spectacular sight.

Mao Mountain Village: Mao Mountain Village is the fourth-largest administrative village in Duanwei Town, Xianyang County. It is located in the southwest of Duanwei Town, Xianyang County. To the northeast, it borders Zhongyue Village, about 5 kilometers from Duanwei Town. To the southeast, it borders Tanbian Village, and to the southwest, it borders Yunshui Village. It is approximately 5 kilometers long and 2.4 kilometers wide, wider in the middle and tapering at both ends, covering an area of about 5.3 square kilometers. The current village population is 5,353, with 1,473 households, comprising 8 natural villages and 38 villager groups.
