Murals in Yunshan Academy

The murals in Yunshan Academy are a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province.

The murals in Yunshan Academy are located in Yuzhuang Village, Bangtou Town, Xianyou County, dating back to 1950.

Introduction: The academy was originally built during the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1875–1908), renovated in 1919, and dedicated to Lin Longjiang, the founder of the "Three-in-One" teaching. It preserves a series of 30 murals created by Li Geng — the “Biography of Mr. Lin Longjiang, Founder of the ‘Three-in-One’ Teaching,” with 14 on the left wall and 16 on the right. These murals were created in 1950, featuring rich and full compositions, slender and elegant figures, bold and vigorous lines, and a transcendent, free style. The content depicts episodes from Lin Longjiang’s life and serves as important physical material for studying the culture of the “Three-in-One” teaching.

Protected area: An extension of 20 meters outward from all sides of the building.

In 2018, the murals in Yunshan Academy were designated as part of the ninth batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units by the People's Government of Fujian Province.

Yuzhuang Village in Bangtou Town is located in the southeastern part of Bangtou Town, about 4 li from the town government seat. It lies against the Kunlun Mountain and faces the Mulan River. The village has a total population of 2,800, comprises 7 natural villages and 18 villager groups, with 650 households. It has one primary school and one health clinic, 800 acres of arable land, and 2,000 acres of forest land. Major crops include rice and sweet potatoes, with cash crops such as peanuts and soybeans. Notable fruits include longan, chestnuts, and olives, while the mountainous areas are planted with Masson pine and Chinese fir.
