The former site of the XianDe Guerrilla Squadron Headquarters is a classic red tourism attraction.

The former site of the XianDe Guerrilla Squadron Headquarters is located in Houpu Natural Village, Houpu Village, Duwei Town, Xianyou County, Putian City.

In late July 1949, after attacking the Shanhua Township Office, the XianDe Guerrilla Squadron retreated to the Lingshi Base Area for rest and reorganization. A few days later, the puppet self-defense force of Xianyou advanced into Lingshi again. The guerrillas proactively avoided the enemy and relocated to Houpu Primary School for concealed rest and recuperation, where they sought treatment for foot injuries from a local doctor. However, the pursuing puppet self-defense force suddenly surrounded Houpu Primary School. The squadron’s sentry fired a warning shot, and the deputy squad leader of the guerrilla squadron, Lu Weichi, led a squad to hold off the enemy, while the remaining fighters retreated to safety in the back hills under the command of the squadron political instructor, Lin Tianlin. Later, the covering squad withdrew via a detour through Guanyin Mountain in Houpu but tragically lost two members to gunfire during the retreat. After breaking out of Houpu, Lin Tianlin led the guerrillas in conducting struggles while remaining hidden in areas such as Xianshan, Xiyuan, and Xing’an, before eventually moving to Zhongshan Triangle Field in the Xingtai Mountain area, where they joined forces with the larger guerrilla unit led by the CPC XianDe Working Committee.

The former site at Houpu Primary School now consists of a newly built three-story brick-concrete teaching building with a total of 18 classrooms. In December 2011, the CPC Putian Municipal Committee Party History Research Office designated it as a protected historical site.
