In mid-June 1947, the Daiyun Column of the Central Fujian Guerrilla Unit was operating covertly in the northwest region of Xianyou. On June 15, they were stationed in Luqian Village, Shufeng Township. The column leaders held a meeting to discuss the operational plan for attacking Xing’an (now Shecheng Township). At the meeting, Huang Guozhen, Secretary of the Xianyou County Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, reported on the activities of the Party organization in Xianyou and highlighted the urgent issue of local residents facing extreme hardship due to the lack of food during the lean season, which drew serious attention from the column leaders. As a result, they abandoned the original plan to attack Xing’an and instead decided to break into the warehouses in Houpu, Duwei, to distribute grain and address the urgent food needs of the people. That evening, the Daiyun Column advanced directly from Xikeng in Shufeng to Houpu Village in Duwei. There were two grain warehouses in Houpu Village—the Sanjiao Ancestral Hall Warehouse and the Xiating Warehouse—both of which had weak defenses and were located far from the security forces of Zhongyue Township Office and the police station in Tanbian, making them suitable for the guerrillas’ grain distribution operation. At around 10 a.m. on June 16, one group of guerrillas led by Huang Guozhang quickly surrounded the two warehouses and broke open their gates. Then, Huang Guozhen and Ou Chenglong each led over ten guerrillas to mobilize nearby villagers to come and carry the grain. Another group led by Luo Yingxiang occupied the hill north of Houpu and guarded the intersection to prevent reinforcement from the Nationalist security forces or police.

As expected, when local villagers swarmed to the warehouses to carry grain, they alerted the security forces of Zhongyue Township Office and the police in Tanbian, who hurried to Houpu in an attempt to stop the villagers. The guerrillas ambushed on the hills around Houpu concentrated their firepower to block the enemies from approaching. The security forces dared not advance, and the guerrillas held their positions as the battle continued intermittently. By evening, the security forces and police, fearing an ambush by the guerrillas, withdrew from the scene. After their retreat, over 800 villagers came forward and carried away more than 100,000 jin of grain. On the evening of June 17, under the leadership of Huang Guozhang, Lin Runan, Luo Yingxiang, and others, the Daiyun Column left Duwei and moved westward. Huang Guozhen, Ou Chenglong, and others led the Xianyou guerrillas to advance with the Daiyun Column toward the Daiyun Mountain Range. Along the way, Huang Guozhen, Ou Muli, Lin Buyun, and others returned to Xianyou to continue their work. After the grain distribution in Houpu, the Nationalist Xianyou County Government deployed over 200 security forces and police to station in Houpu and conducted large-scale searches and interrogations of villagers who had carried grain, attempting to recover the lost grain. However, thanks to the careful organization by the guerrillas beforehand, the villagers had hidden the grain in the mountains. As a result, the security forces and police only managed to seize a small amount of miscellaneous grain before giving up.

The former site of the grain distribution from the broken warehouse in Houpu consists of the Sanjiao Ancestral Hall Warehouse and the Xiating Warehouse. The Sanjiao Ancestral Hall Warehouse, also known as Heling Academy, is a single-story stone house with a construction area of 112 square meters. The Xiating Warehouse is a single-story civil structure made of earth and wood, consisting of six rooms with a total area of 350 square meters. In December 2011, the Party History Research Office of the Putian Municipal Committee designated it as a protected site.

It is located in the western part of Xianyou County, upstream of the Mulan River.
