The former site of the resistance against the "suppression" campaign at Lishan Stockade is located in Lishan Natural Village, Xiazhou Community, Duwei Town, Xianyou County, Putian City.

In April 1949, after establishing a guerrilla base in Lingxi, the Xian-De Working Committee of the Communist Party of China set up the Xian-De Guerrilla Headquarters at Lishan Middle School in Shipaidou in late April to unify the command of guerrilla forces across the county. In early June of the same year, the Fujian Provincial Government of the Kuomintang deployed Chen Weijin’s troops to occupy Xianyou. Together with the Xianyou County Self-Defense Force, plainclothes squads, and police officers, they launched an offensive into Lingxi. Faced with the strong enemy attack, the Xian-De Guerrilla Headquarters moved its operations to Banling in Houpu, while various guerrilla units occupied key mountain positions, controlling strategic transportation routes. Using Lishan Stockade as a defensive barrier, they prevented the advance of the Kuomintang forces.

Lishan Stockade is situated in the central part of Lingxi, with continuous mountain ranges behind it and ridges extending to Zhongyue Street in front. The rugged terrain made it easy to defend but hard to attack. For the enemy to secure a foothold in Lingxi, they had to capture Lishan Stockade. Similarly, for the guerrillas to protect their Lingxi base, holding Lishan Stockade was essential. As a result, it became a strategically crucial battleground contested by both sides. One morning in early June, Chen Weijin’s troops advanced toward Ganlan Ridge to fight for control of Lishan Stockade. Upon reaching the ridge top, they set up small cannons and bombarded areas around Shipaidou and Lishan before charging straight down to the foot of Lishan Stockade. That evening, the Xian-De Guerrilla Headquarters employed the tactic of “harassing the enemy where they camp.” They dispatched several small squads to fire shots from the mountaintops, creating the illusion of a larger presence. The enemy attacking Lingxi spent the entire night on edge, fearful and disoriented.

The next day, Chen Weijin’s forces launched another attack on Lishan Stockade. The guerrillas held their ground by firing back, rolling large boulders downhill, and even having local residents light firecrackers and throw them into metal buckets to mimic the sound of machine guns. Meanwhile, guerrilla units lying in ambush on nearby peaks such as Shuangjishan, Huangshan, and Ganlan Ridge coordinated their efforts, firing shots and blowing horns, creating the impression of a formidable army. Mistakenly believing they were facing a major force, Chen Weijin’s troops retreated. Seeing this withdrawal, the Kuomintang County Self-Defense Force and police also hastily fled back to the county town. In this battle, the guerrillas achieved victory against greater numbers through strategy and bravery, crushing the enemy’s “suppression” campaign and solidifying their guerrilla base in Lingxi.

In mid-June of the same year, Song Qinglie, the Kuomintang county magistrate of Xianyou, learned that the main Xian-De Guerrilla forces had been relocated to Dayang for reorganization. Taking advantage of the situation, he once again sent the Self-Defense Force to occupy the Western District and advance toward Lingxi. Using tactics of feinting east while attacking west, and maintaining a daytime presence while harassing at night, the guerrillas—relying heavily on support from the local Lingxi population—once again successfully repelled the Self-Defense Force’s “suppression” attempt, defending their guerrilla base. In late June, as the People’s Liberation Army advanced toward Fujian, the Kuomintang Fujian Provincial Government secretly ordered the Xianyou County Government to implement the “Emergency Contingency Measures” outlined in 21 clauses and prepare a “contingency plan.” After implementing a series of emergency measures, the Kuomintang Xianyou County Government assembled a large force in mid-July for a third attack on Lingxi, deploying over 300 troops from Chen Weijin’s unit and the Xianyou County Self-Defense Force. At this critical moment, Kang Jinshu and Jiang Qingguang led the reorganized Xian-De Guerrilla Brigade back to Houpu in Lingxi. To protect the lives and property of the local people, Kang Jinshu decided to engage Chen Weijin’s forces in decisive battle. After three days of continuous fighting at Lishan Stockade, the guerrillas once again repelled the Kuomintang assault and secured victory.

The former site of the resistance against the "suppression" campaign at Lishan Stockade is a mountain stockade covering an area of 3 square kilometers. The surviving walls of the stockade on the mountain stretch over 4 kilometers, standing 3 meters high, with one gate each on the east, west, south, and north sides. In 2003, the Duwei Town Party Committee and government constructed a memorial monument corridor at Lishan Stockade.
