The former site of the battle at Meiyang Ancestral Hall is located in Meiyang Natural Village, Jiaowei Community, Jiaowei Town, Xianyou County, Putian City.

With the rapid development of the national liberation war and the People's Liberation Army entering Fujian, the Xian-De Guerrilla Unit and various district guerrilla forces in Xianyou began to take the initiative in launching attacks, striking heavy blows against the local reactionary forces of the Kuomintang through open armed struggle.

On July 26, 1949, the Southeast District Guerrilla Unit of Xianyou fought a successful battle at Meiyang Ancestral Hall, successfully capturing a group including the puppet town head of Jiaowei, seizing sixteen rifles, as well as telephones and some archives. Prior to this operation, the Southeast District Guerrilla Unit had also gone deep into areas such as Baxia, Kengtou, Tiantoudian, Qincài, Zhengfang, and Shuigou to organize and mobilize the masses, carry out revolutionary struggles, and expand the influence of the revolution.

The former site of the battle at Meiyang Ancestral Hall is a single-story ancestral hall with an earth-and-wood structure, consisting of upper and lower halls, covering an area of 180 square meters.

Jiaowei Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Xianyou County. The Jiaowei Commune was established in 1958. It was restructured as a township in 1984 and became a town in 1987. Located in the southeastern part of the county, it covers an area of 64.5 square kilometers with a population of 79,000. The Fuzhou-Xiamen Highway and the Sanjiao Highway intersect here.
