Former Site of the Xianyou Guerrilla Gathering Ground

The former site of the Xianyou Guerrilla Gathering Ground is a classic red tourism attraction.

The former site of the Xianyou Guerrilla Gathering Ground is located in Dingyang Natural Village, Heglu Village, Bangtou Town, Xianyou County, Putian City.

In mid-October 1930, after attacking the Shanhua Civil Defense Corps, the Xianyou guerrillas raised a red flag embroidered with a hammer and sickle on Shanhua Street, then withdrew calmly. They regrouped in Dingyang Natural Village, Heglu Village, Bangtou Town, via Lǐyú Ridge and other areas, then crossed Heling Pass and marched to Maixieyan Temple in Zhongshan, where they established the 108th Regiment of the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. Huang Ying was appointed as the regimental commander, Lin Zhi as the political commissar, and Cai Mingshan (also known as Cai Yuan) as the confiscation team leader and flag bearer. They used the Xingtai mountainous area as their guerrilla base to carry out operations.

The former site of the Xianyou Guerrilla Gathering Ground is a single-story brick-concrete structure consisting of five wing rooms, with a total floor area of 120 square meters. It currently serves as a senior citizens’ activity center. General Cai Yuan inscribed the words “Glory of Bangtou” at the site, where a monument has been erected in commemoration.
