The former site of revolutionary activity base of the Communist Party organization in Xianyou is a cultural heritage protection unit of Xianyou and a classic red tourism attraction.

The former site of revolutionary activity base of the Communist Party organization in Xianyou is located in Zhuzhuang Natural Village, Houxiazhuang, Bangtou Town, Xianyou County, Putian City.

Zhuzhuang Primary School in Bangtou Town has a glorious revolutionary tradition. Since the May Fourth Movement, a group of underground party members and progressive teachers used the school as a cover for teaching while engaging in revolutionary activities, making contributions to the establishment of New China. In late April 1928, the CPC Xianyou County Committee organized farmers in the eastern township to resist the tobacco seedling tax campaign. Teachers and students from Zhuzhuang Primary School were a significant force in this resistance. On May 4, young teacher Huang Jinxiu led students to actively participate in the peasant uprising organized by Wang Yujie, Lin Buyun, and Zheng Zhen to destroy the Baxia Tobacco Seedling Tax Office and confront tax collectors. On May 10 of the same year, the Xianyou County Government of the Kuomintang sent troops to suppress the eastern township farmers’ movement. Huang Jinxiu was unfortunately arrested and secretly executed on May 11 of the same month.

During the Anti-Japanese War, progressive teachers and CPC members such as Lin Buyun and Ou Yuanqing carried out anti-Japanese salvation propaganda activities at Zhuzhuang Primary School. The higher-level party organization arranged for New Fourth Army cadres, including Ji Yin—who had participated in the Chishi Uprising at the Shangrao Concentration Camp—and Ke Kunshan, to hide at Zhuzhuang Primary School.

During the Liberation War, graduates of Zhuzhuang Primary School such as Ou Chenglong, Lin Yuhua, Wang Yurou, Wang Renmin, Chen Guoshui, Chen Qingxian, Yu Ruibo, Chen Chengduan, Huang Yuanxiu, and Lu Jinlu successively joined the CPC and embarked on the revolutionary path. Among them, Ou Chenglong, who served as the Deputy Secretary of the Xianyou County Working Committee of the CPC, was unfortunately arrested while participating in the guerrilla warfare in the Daiyun Mountains and was martyred in October 1947. In the spring of 1949, Zhuzhuang Primary School became one of the bases for the Southeastern Xianyou Guerrilla Unit.

The former site of revolutionary activity base of the Communist Party organization in Xianyou is the old teaching building of Zhuzhuang Primary School, a two-story brick-concrete structure covering an area of 1,600 square meters. The CPC Putian Municipal Committee Party History Research Office designated it for protected status in December 2011.

The former site of revolutionary activity base of the Communist Party organization in Xianyou was announced as a cultural heritage protection unit of Xianyou County by the Xianyou County People's Government in January 2007, and as a patriotic education base of Xianyou County by the CPC Xianyou County Committee in August 2006.
