Former Site of Xiangtang Transport Station

The former site of Xiangtang Transport Station is a classic red tourism attraction.

The former site of Xiangtang Transport Station is located in Houcuo Natural Village, Xiangtang Village, Bangtou Town, Xianyou County.

In the first half of 1942, the Fujian–Central Special Committee of the Chinese Communist Party decided to establish a new revolutionary base in Xianyou. It successively dispatched Huang Guozhen, Cai Wenhuan, Qiu Ziguo, and others to set up transport stations and recruit party members. Starting in 1944, Huang Guozhen established a number of transport stations in the eastern, southeastern, and Xingtai mountainous areas of Xianyou, among which the Xiangtang Transport Station was one. The Xiangtang Transport Station was a temple in Xiangtang Village, managed by the monk Shi Miaoneng. Under Huang Guozhen’s persuasion, Shi Miaoneng secretly participated in underground revolutionary activities by leveraging his unique identity. On October 22, 1947, Huang Guozhen was arrested in Guangpu Village, Bangtou, after being betrayed by a traitor, and was later brutally executed by the Kuomintang reactionaries. Soon after, the Xiangtang Transport Station was also destroyed by the enemy. Shi Miaoneng was imprisoned for 47 days for sheltering underground party members but was eventually released through the rescue efforts of the local villagers in Xiangtang. Shi Miaoneng is the only member of Xianyou County’s religious community to have received the revolutionary “Five Elders” treatment.

The former site of Xiangtang Transport Station is a single-story, three-room earthen-walled bungalow, located in a remote area and currently unoccupied.
