The former site of the Eastern Township Branch of the CPC in Xianyou is a classic red tourism attraction.

The former site of the Eastern Township Branch of the CPC in Xianyou is located in Qiancuo Natural Village, Baxia Village, Bangtou Town, Xianyou County, Putian City.

In late 1927, introduced by Huang Jingfang, Chen Guozhu met Wang Yujie, who was teaching at Baxia Primary School (now Baxia Central Primary School) in Bangtou Town, Xianyou County. After an evaluation, Chen believed that Wang not only had a strong sense of justice but also had received higher education and possessed certain organizational and leadership abilities. As a result, he recruited Wang into the Communist Party of China. Subsequently, Wang Yujie recruited four more party members, including Lin Buyun and Zheng Zhen, establishing the Eastern Township Branch of the CPC in Xianyou (also known as the Xianyou Special Branch), with Wang Yujie serving as the branch secretary. From then on, Baxia Primary School in Bangtou Town became an activity base for workers and peasants during the Great Revolution. In the spring of 1928, the CPC Xianyou County Committee decided to focus the anti-tax struggle in the Eastern Township, thereby promoting the development of the anti-tax campaign across the county. In response, Wang Yujie immediately set up a “Tobacco Tax Settlement Committee” at Baxia Primary School as the command center for the anti-tax struggle. Soon after, party members of the Eastern Township Branch and local peasant activists spread out to various villages to conduct propaganda and mobilization. In April of the same year, Wang Yujie and others organized over 1,000 people from the Eastern Township to hold a demonstration, during which they stormed the Baxia Tax Office, confronted tax collectors, and settled disputes over tobacco seedling taxes. This large-scale and impactful anti-tax struggle not only achieved victory but also trained cadres, developed party members, and expanded the membership of the Eastern Township Branch to 16.

The former site of the Eastern Township Branch of the CPC in Xianyou is now Baxia Central Primary School, originally named Zhegui Primary School. It features a four-story brick-concrete teaching building covering an area of 324 square meters. In December 2011, the Party History Research Office of the Putian Municipal Committee designated it as a protected historical site.
