The Site of the Old Grain Warehouse Break-in and Distribution in Xinan is located in Chengsixi Natural Village, Xinnan Village, Fengting Town, Xianyou County, Putian City.

On April 14, 1949, the Xianshun Guerrilla Unit’s plan to attack the Fengting Self-Defense Corps failed, which had a significant impact on the morale of the guerrilla fighters. To boost their spirits, the guerrillas decided to break into the grain warehouse in Xinan, Fengting, and distribute the grain. The Xinan grain warehouse was an earthen building that stored over 100,000 jin of grain. The earthen walls of the warehouse were built like a watchtower, with three sturdy floors. Over ten grain guards lived on the third floor. On April 14, under the leadership of Liu Zuozhou and Mao Piao, more than 100 guerrilla fighters, along with several hundred local people mobilized along the way, surrounded the Xinan grain warehouse and urged the guards to lay down their weapons and surrender. The guards wanted to hold out behind the strong fortress, but they feared they could not defeat the guerrillas. Moreover, the crowd was mixed with the guerrillas, and some of the locals taking part in the break-in were relatives of the guards. As a result, the guards hesitated. After stabilizing the guards, the guerrillas set fire to the warehouse gate. Those on the third floor rushed to pour water down from above. Mao Piao, the deputy leader of the Xianshun Guerrilla Unit, then led two fighters to bravely charge toward the gate at the risk of their lives and used axes to break it open. The guerrillas stormed into the warehouse, captured the guards, and mobilized the crowd to carry away the grain. It was a time of scarcity, with people lacking food and clothing. Upon hearing the news, a large crowd gathered and, in less than a morning, they carried away all 100,000-plus jin of grain. The guerrillas also seized 13 rifles, over a thousand rounds of ammunition, and one bicycle. When the guerrillas were about to leave, they received a report from the public that an undercover officer from the Fengting Township Office had been secretly registering the people who were carrying grain and the amounts they took. The guerrillas immediately arrested him and executed him by firing squad at Loutiling. Afterwards, the guerrillas withdrew from Fengting, moved toward Cixiao, and marched through the night back to their base in Xikou Village, western Xianyou.

The Site of the Old Grain Warehouse Break-in and Distribution in Xinan is a Longshan earthen building with three floors and an earth-and-wood structure. It is now severely damaged, with only broken walls remaining. The Party History Research Office of the Putian Municipal Committee of the CPC provided it with a protected status sign in December 2011.
