The Site of the Attack on the ShanHua Civil Defense Corps Battle is located on Daji Street, Daji Village, Daji Town, Xianyou County, Putian City.

In September 1930, the Provisional County Committee of the CCP in Xianyou raised more than ten rifles and formed a guerrilla unit of over twenty members. To facilitate the guerrillas' activities and strengthen their armed forces, the County Committee decided to station the newly formed guerrilla unit in ShanHua Town in the western district. ShanHua Town, now known as Daji Town in Xianyou County, was the political and economic center of western Xianyou. The revolutionary mass organizations in the rural areas and the Party’s mass base were relatively strong there, which was conducive to carrying out revolutionary activities.

In early October of the same year, Lin Guansan, captain of the ShanHua Civil Defense Corps, along with a group of local landlords and despots, gathered in ShanHua Town to take advantage of the birthday celebration of the Buddha, hosting opera performances and using the occasion to coerce the public into donating money and goods for their feasting and revelry. For several days in a row, audiences at the performances on ShanHua Street numbered in the thousands. The Provisional County Committee of the CCP in Xianyou decided to seize this favorable opportunity to attack the headquarters of the ShanHua Civil Defense Corps in order to seize weapons and expand the guerrilla forces. Consequently, the County Committee immediately set up an action command to make meticulous arrangements and mobilized the masses from key base villages to use the guise of watching the opera to cover the guerrilla unit's combat operations. On October 14, over 500 villagers from Xitou, Sanhui, Shangwu, Wengdu, and Xikou villages arrived in ShanHua Street one after another under the pretext of watching the opera. Around 2 p.m., a small guerrilla squad quietly approached the Civil Defense Corps headquarters. At that time, Captain Lin Guansan and several landlords and despots were playing cards. The guerrillas decisively stormed the headquarters, knocking down several junior officers of the corps. Meanwhile, another group of guerrillas rushed into the dormitory of the militiamen. The militiamen present, caught completely off guard and unprepared, fled in panic. The guerrillas took the opportunity to confiscate all the rifles hanging on the walls. After a brief battle, four junior officers were killed and three were injured. Captain Lin Guansan, however, feigned death after being shot and managed to escape.

In this battle, the guerrillas seized one pistol, over twenty rifles, and more than a thousand rounds of ammunition, significantly bolstering the guerrilla unit’s armed strength and political influence. After the battle, the guerrillas distributed leaflets among the populace and posted notices around the streets of ShanHua, further expanding their propaganda efforts. Subsequently, the guerrillas withdrew from ShanHua Street and marched toward Maixieyan in Zhongshan, planning to establish Maixieyan as their base for conducting guerrilla warfare.

The Site of the Attack on the ShanHua Civil Defense Corps Battle is situated on Daji Street. The original headquarters of the Kuomintang Civil Defense Corps has been demolished.

Daji Village: Daji Village is located upstream of the Mulan River, in the eastern part of Daji Town and the western part of Xianyou County. It borders Shancen Village to the east, Longxi Village to the west, Nanshan Village and Sanhui Village across the Mulan River to the south and southwest, and extends to the boundary of Xintian Group in Weiban Village to the north. The terrain is higher in the north and lower in the south, with the Mulan River and the Xianyong Highway running through the southern part of the village.
