The former site of the attack on the Jinxian Police Station is located on Motou Street, Hongxing Village, Longhua Town, Xianyou County, Putian City.

In June 1947, after the main force of the Central Fujian Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, the Daiyun Column, advanced into Xianyou, they carried out several large-scale military operations including breaking into granaries to distribute grain and striking local militia groups. In response, the Nationalist provincial government sent troops to pursue the guerrillas and, at the same time, jointly constructed three blockhouses—Changling, Baishuilin, and Guyi—in Putian, Xianyou, and Hui’an counties to strengthen military defenses. On June 26, the Nationalist Xianyou County Government established the Jinxian Police Station on Motou Street, deploying over ten officers and recruiting more than twenty local idlers to form a joint defense militia, aiming to control Motou Street, a key transportation hub connecting Xianyou with Jinjiang, Yongchun, Nan’an, and Dehua. From then on, the Jinxian Police Station became a major obstacle to the struggles of the Central Fujian Party organization and revolutionary forces.

In early 1949, as resistance against the “Three Levies” (conscription, grain levy, and tax levy) in Xianyou intensified and guerrilla forces flourished, the Xian-De Work Committee of the Chinese Communist Party decided to launch an armed struggle to dismantle the Nationalist grassroots regime. On April 9 of the same year, after meticulous planning, the Xian-De Work Committee launched a surprise attack on the Jinxian Police Station. That morning, over 60 guerrillas from three squads in Xianyou and Dehua counties gathered at Xikou in Daji Town. In the afternoon, they proceeded toward Motou in two groups. The first group, led by Mao Piao, consisted of 21 guerrillas disguised as villagers searching for lost oxen, taking a shortcut to approach Motou Street. The second group, led by Liu Zuozhou and Mao Cai, included over 40 guerrillas who waited in ambush on Jinsha Luohan Rock Mountain behind Motou. The first group arrived at the police station around 4 p.m., using the excuse of looking for cattle to rush into the compound, disarmed the guards, and then stormed the barracks, confiscating eight rifles hanging on the walls. Over ten officers were stunned by the sudden attack and dared not resist. At that moment, a rifle accidentally discharged, hitting the deputy station chief in the leg. The guerrillas stationed behind the station, thinking a firefight had erupted, immediately blew their bugles and opened fire. Realizing that gunfire would prompt reinforcements from the Xianyou county seat, Mao Piao quickly regrouped his men, gave a brief address, and led them in a swift retreat from the Jinxian Police Station.

The battle to attack the Jinxian Police Station ended in victory, expanding the influence of the guerrillas and delivering a heavy blow to the Nationalist authorities.
