The Site of the Minnan Special Committee of the CPC is a classic red tourism attraction.

The Site of the Minnan Special Committee of the CPC is located in Shangling Natural Village, Nanhu Village, Zhongshan Town, Xianyou County, Putian City.

In July 1939, the Fujian Provincial Committee of the CPC held its First Congress. During the meeting, the three central county committees of Putian, Quanzhou, and Fuqing were merged to form the Minnan Special Committee of the CPC, with Li Gang as the secretary, and Su Hua (female), Cai Wenhuan, Chen Jinlai, Lin Alang, He Suqing (female), and Fang Ziming as committee members. This move aimed to strengthen leadership over the Central Fujian region to advance the development of the situation there and form a strategic pincer with the Northern Fujian Base Area.

In the first half of 1942, the Minnan Special Committee of the CPC decided to establish a new base area in Xianyou. Personnel including Qiu Ziguo, Huang Guozhen, and Cai Wenhuan were dispatched to Xianyou. After arriving, Qiu Ziguo and others set up new strongholds in places such as Huluqiu, established liaison stations, and developed party members. They also revived party organizations in Baxia, set up several communication stations, and established close ties with the Xingtai Base Area.

In April of the same year, due to the impact of the “Jiangtian Incident” in Changle, the headquarters of the Minnan Special Committee of the CPC was relocated to the Puxianyong Border Base Area and stationed in Shangling Village, Nanhu Township, Xianyou. A wireless radio station was set up on Niubi Mountain. In July of the same year, in accordance with the Provincial Committee’s “Decision on Strengthening Party Spirit,” the Minnan Special Committee held a cadre training class in Nanhu to provide party spirit education, unify ideological understanding, and strengthen leadership over party organizations in various counties of Central Fujian.

The former site of the Minnan Special Committee of the CPC has been damaged. The Party History Research Office of the Putian Municipal Committee erected a memorial stele at the site in December 2011.

Nanhu Village: Nanhu Village is located 6 kilometers west of the seat of Zhongshan Town, Xianyou County, on the west side of the Xianyou–Zhuangbian Highway, 7.2 kilometers from the town government. It connects to Xilin Village of Zhongshan Town to the northeast, borders Fenshan Village of Zhongshan Town to the west, leans against Linsui Village of Zhongshan Town to the north, and is adjacent to Bangtou Town of Xianyou County to the south. The village covers a total area of 4 square kilometers, with 177 households and a population of 735, divided into 3 natural villages (Hemu Natural Village, Xiachuan Natural Village, and Shangling Natural Village).
