Former Site of the People's Government of Li Lake Township

The former site of the People's Government of Li Lake Township is a classic red tourism attraction.

The former site of the People's Government of Li Lake Township is located in Jiuzhai Natural Village, Minghe Village, Zhongshan Town, Xianyou County, Putian City.

In June 1949, the Minzhong Working Committee of the Chinese Communist Party instructed the guerrilla forces in Xingtai area to further dismantle the local grassroots political power of the Kuomintang, consolidate the fruits of victory, establish solid bases, continue to grow and expand their ranks, collect food supplies, and prepare to welcome the advancing army to liberate all of Xianyou. Xu Chunsu was appointed as the liaison officer for the Xingtai area to coordinate and maintain communication between the three townships—Guyi (now Youyang Town), Li Lake (now Zhongshan Town), and Xunyang (now Shicang Township)—and the Minzhong Working Committee. Through the active efforts of Lan Bingxiong, Zhang Yuanzi, Fu Debiao, Wang Bing, Wen Xuetong, Zhang Ziying, and others, the preparatory work for establishing the People's Governments of Guyi, Li Lake, and Xunyang was largely completed.

By the end of June, the main force of the reorganized XianDe Guerrilla Brigade had entered Xingtai, causing the Kuomintang’s local puppet officials to flee upon hearing the news. A favorable situation emerged in the Xingtai area, making it the right time to establish grassroots people’s governments. On July 1, the People's Government of Li Lake Township was officially established, becoming one of the first grassroots people’s governments in Xianyou. Zhang Ziying served as the chairman of the government, and Cai Laisheng as the secretary.

The former site of the People's Government of Li Lake Township is Longxi Palace, a two-story brick-concrete structure temple covering an area of 180 square meters.

Minghe Village: Minghe Village is located 2.3 kilometers southeast of the Zhongshan Town seat in Xianyou County, on the east side of Zhuangxian Highway. It borders Langqiao Village to the east, the central area of Zhongshan Town to the west, Tianzhu Village to the south, and Maixie Village to the north. The village covers a total area of 8 square kilometers with a population of 1,720, and includes eight natural villages: Batou, Shige, Xiashangwei, Changzhai, Qiucuo, Macuo, Longxi Palace, and Qiaodou.
