Destination Introduction

No. 20 Xinge Road Courtyard is located in the northwest of Chongwen District, within Xinglong Street west of Chongwai Street. It was built in the early years of the Republic of China.

Location: Northwest of Chongwen District

The courtyard features three main rooms each on the south and north sides, one side room attached to each main room, and three wing rooms on the east and west sides. All are gable-and-hip roofed with flush-gable tiles and front porches. The main rooms and wing rooms are interconnected by corridors, with enameled decorative patterns embedded in the rafter ends and window frames adorned with ingot-shaped ornaments. The architecture is exquisite and relatively well-preserved, representing a typical and traditionally valuable courtyard house in Beijing. It currently serves as staff housing for the State Council Offices Administration. It was designated as a municipal-level cultural relics protection unit in 1984.

Transportation nearby is convenient, with bus routes 3, 8, 23, 41, 60 and trolleybus route 106 (Ciqikou Station).
