Martyr Luo Yingxiang’s Tomb is a classic red tourism attraction.

Martyr Luo Yingxiang’s Tomb is located at Bailiuling in Maixie Village, Zhongshan Town, Xianyou County, Putian City.

Luo Yingxiang (1911.10–1947.7), also known by the alias Zheng Jie, was a native of Zhengyang Natural Village in Maixie Village, Zhongshan Town, Xianyou County. He joined the revolutionary movement in 1929, using teaching as a cover to actively engage in underground revolutionary activities. In the spring of 1931, he joined the Communist Party of China. Later, he was transferred to urban areas of Xianyou to carry out activities, recruit party members, establish party branches, and actively organize and develop anti-Japanese organizations such as the Anti-Japanese Committee, the Anti-Imperialist League, the Mutual Aid Society, the Red Labor Union, and the Red Army Friends Society, bringing new momentum to the urban revolutionary struggle. The following year, he became a member of the Xianyou County Committee of the CPC, leading the revolutionary and peasant movements in Xianyou County. In April 1934, after the Xianyou Party organization was destroyed by the enemy, he went to Putian to join the guerrilla forces and actively participated in establishing the Central Fujian Guerrilla Zone. In the spring of 1935, he was sent back to Xianyou to take charge of party work, restoring and developing a number of party and league branches. In June 1938, he joined the New Fourth Army along with the Central Fujian guerrilla forces to fight in the War of Resistance against Japan on the southern Anhui front, successively serving as a company clerk, staff officer at the Northern Jiangsu Command, and head of the Operations Department at the Army Headquarters. In the second half of 1946, he was sent back to Fujian to carry out armed resistance behind enemy lines. After several twists and turns, he reconnected with the Central Fujian Party organization and devoted himself to organizing guerrilla forces. In February 1947, he established the Putian People’s Guerrilla Unit in coastal areas and served as its commander. In April, this guerrilla unit merged with the Fuqing guerrilla forces and was reorganized into the Central Fujian Guerrilla Column (also known as the Daiyun Column), where he served as chief of staff. On July 5, during an intense battle between the Central Fujian Guerrilla Column and Kuomintang troops at Shimenshan Gate in Shishan, Nan’an County, Luo Yingxiang was unfortunately shot and killed while covering the main force’s retreat.

After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the government of Nan’an County, Quanzhou City, built a martyr’s tomb at Shimenshan. In 1953, the martyr’s remains were moved back to Xianyou. In July 1966, the People’s Committee of Xianyou County rebuilt the martyr’s tomb at Bailiuling, his hometown, as a stone-structured memorial tomb covering an area of 100 square meters.
