Dongfen Five Emperors Temple

Dongfen Five Emperors Temple is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

Dongfen Five Emperors Temple is located on the southwestern side of Dongfen Natural Village, Dongjin Village, Lingchuan Town. Originally built during the Tang Dynasty, it has been repaired many times throughout the dynasties. The existing structures were rebuilt in the 38th year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1699) and underwent recent renovations. Facing south, it spans 18.5 meters in width and 38.5 meters in depth, covering an area of 4,636 square meters, with a layout shaped like the Chinese character “工”. It is a two-courtyard corridor-style temple complex, consisting of a main courtyard, left and right bell and drum towers, an altar pavilion, a front hall, and a rear hall. The main hall features five bays in width and two columns in depth, with the central column removed from the main span to create an open space, a gable-and-hip roof, and a structure made of earth and wood. The brackets and dougong (bracket arms) are adorned with gold-lacquered wood carvings, and the column bases date back to the Ming and Qing dynasties. On the right side of the front courtyard stands a stone lion from the Tang Dynasty. Dongfen Five Emperors Temple was designated as a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province in 2005.
