The Museum of Revolutionary History in Central Fujian is a classic red tourism destination, as well as a base for patriotic education and national defense education.

The Museum of Revolutionary History in Central Fujian is located at No. 565 Nanmen West Road, Fenghuangshan Subdistrict, Chengxiang District, Putian City.

Central Fujian boasts a glorious revolutionary history, and its people made outstanding contributions to China’s revolution. In 1988, the Central Fujian guerrilla zone was recognized as one of the 15 independent guerrilla zones during the three-year guerrilla war in southern China, thereby affirming the position and role of the Central Fujian revolution within the national revolutionary base areas.

The Museum of Revolutionary History in Central Fujian was built in 1998 in the style of a palace, covering a construction area of 1,041 square meters. In April 2000, the museum completed its exhibition on the revolutionary history of Central Fujian during the New Democratic Revolution period and officially opened to the public. Focusing on the revolutionary history of Central Fujian, the museum features six exhibition halls and one screening room: the Preface Hall, the May Fourth Movement Hall, the Hall on Establishing the Soviet, the Three-Year Guerrilla War Hall, the Anti-Japanese War Hall, the Liberation War Hall, and a screening room. Making full use of modern technology, these exhibition halls employ sound, light, electricity, and other forms, along with cultural relics, materials, and documents from different revolutionary periods of Central Fujian, vividly depicting the glorious history from February 26, 1926, when the first mixed Party and League branch in Putian was established at Zheli Bell Tower in Putian, to the continuous growth of the Party organization—from the Putian Branch to the Special (Regional) Committee of the CPC in Central Fujian—which became the leading core of the revolutionary struggle across the entire Central Fujian region. The scope of its leadership also expanded gradually from Putian to nearly 20 cities and counties stretching from Fuzhou in the north to Xiamen in the south. Over the course of 24 years of revolutionary struggle, with a fearless spirit of sacrifice and indomitable perseverance, the Party led the people of Central Fujian in persisting through the fight, battling bravely, and making outstanding contributions to achieving victory in the revolutionary struggles of both Putian and the broader Central Fujian region.

In December 2001, the Museum of Revolutionary History in Central Fujian was designated as a Fujian Provincial Patriotic Education Base by the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and the Fujian Provincial People’s Government. In November 2007, it was named a Fujian Provincial National Defense Education Base by the Fujian Provincial People’s Government. In September 2009, it was recognized as a Fujian Provincial Party History Education Base by the Party History Research Office of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee.
