The Site of the Jichuan Soviet School is a classic red tourism attraction.

The Site of the Jichuan Soviet School is located in Jichuan Natural Village, Mawan Village, Chantai Town, Putian City.

In February 1930, at its Second Party Congress, the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China put forward the struggle task of “establishing a red area in Quanzhou and Putian,” requiring the Putian Party organization to go deep into rural areas to mobilize the masses, organize local uprisings, and carry out the Soviet movement. Under the leadership of Deng Zihui, the Putian Party organization established a Soviet government in Waikeng, Xinxian on December 9 of the same year. However, it was later subjected to a heavy “encirclement and suppression” by the local Nationalist authorities, leading to the destruction of the Waikeng Soviet government and a downturn in the struggle. In February 1931, the Fujian Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China decided to dissolve the Putian Special Committee and restore the Putian County Committee and the Xianyou County Committee. It also proposed that “the current central task of the Putian-Xianyou Party is to expand the movement in support of the Soviet government, break the sense of failure among the masses, learn from the lessons of the struggle, and expand the influence of the land revolution.” To break the impasse in the struggle, the two county committees of Putian and Xianyou, following the instructions of the Provincial Committee, reorganized grassroots Party organizations in various areas, developed new revolutionary forces, and decided to open up new bases in the mountainous areas of Guangye and Chantai. In 1932, the Putian County Committee of the Communist Party of China sent Chen Jianxin to carry out revolutionary activities in Jichuan, Jinzhukeng, and Waikeng villages in Chantai. A farmers’ association was established in Jichuan, along with a Soviet school where Comrade Jianzhen taught. The school trained activists, organized children’s groups for propaganda activities, and laid the foundation for establishing the Chantai guerrilla base.

It currently has 268 mu of arable land and over 12,600 mu of mountainous land, with a total population of more than 1,150 and around 245 households. Major cash crops include forestry and fruit trees. The main economic pillars are income from business and work outside the village, and labor export earnings. In 2012, the per capita income of villagers reached over 7,000 yuan.
