Former Site of the Putian Ferry Branch of the Communist Party of China

The Former Site of the Putian Ferry Branch of the Communist Party of China is a classic red tourism attraction.

The Former Site of the Putian Ferry Branch of the Communist Party of China is located in Weicuo Natural Village, Duli Village, Dutai Town, Chengxiang District, Putian City.

In the autumn of 1934, as the revolutionary struggle in Putian gradually developed, in order to establish new revolutionary bases, the Putian County Committee of the Communist Party of China sent comrades such as Zheng Jinzhao and Weng Hongtang to areas including Jichuan, Jinzhukeng, and Waikeng in Chetai. They spread revolutionary ideas among the peasants and raised their political awareness. In Waikeng, key figures such as Chen Wentong, Lei Jintong, and Hua Jinque were cultivated, peasant squads were organized, and struggles were carried out. At the same time, to develop party and league organizations, expand the influence of the peasant movement, and strengthen combat effectiveness, the Putian Ferry Branch of the Communist Party of China was established in Dutai. The branch was housed in Fengji Academy, organized by Huang Guozhang, with Chen Wentong serving as branch secretary and committee members Chen Wenyi and Chen Xisun. After the War of Resistance, the branch was overseen by Chen Wengong.

The former site of the Putian Ferry Branch of the Communist Party of China was originally Fengji Academy, later renamed Fengji Ancestral Hall. It was first built in the first year of the Xianfeng era (1851) and covers an area of 120 square meters. This building features a unique architectural style and is one of the better-preserved revolutionary sites in Dutai Town.
