Located 1 km west of Jiaocheng District, Ningde City, also known as "Xishan Park," it covers an area of 200 hectares. This park was built in September 1986 by the people of Ningde City to commemorate the heroic achievements of the Ming Dynasty hero Qi Jiguang in resisting Japanese pirates. The park uses Baihe Peak as its natural screen, centers around Lingxi Zen Temple, and takes Jingling Temple and Lay Buddhists’ Forest as its left and right wings. It features attractions such as the Qi Jiguang Square, Lingxi Zen Temple, the serene valley of Lingguang Cave, and Baihe Peak. There are large sculptures including a massive statue of Qi Jiguang, the Purple Bamboo Guanyin, Baihe Pavilion, Panliang Cave, Jade Maiden Pool, Three Immortals Cave, Dragon Pillar Pavilion, Baiyun Cave, Rainbow Bridge, Lingguang Cave, and Si'er Pavilion. The large statue of Qi Jiguang is a 11.5-meter-high cement sculpture depicting him on horseback with a spear. This park is a privately-run facility belonging to Jiguang Village and is also the first park in Fujian Province established by farmers. It has now become an important base for patriotic education in Ningde.

Qi Jiguang, courtesy name Yuanning, art name Nantang, was a native of Dengzhou, Shandong. He was born in 1528 during the Ming Dynasty's Jiajing era. His father, Jingtong, served as a regional military commander and was once acting head of the Daning Regional Military Commission. Qi Jiguang studied literature and martial arts from a young age. When he was 17, his father passed away, and he inherited his official position as Commander-in-Chief of the Dengzhou Guard in Shandong. At that time, Japanese pirates frequently raided China’s southeastern coastal areas. Qi Jiguang once wrote a poem expressing his aspiration: “It is not my ambition to be ennobled; I only wish for the sea to be calm.” In the 32nd year of the Jiajing era (1553), he was promoted to Acting Commander-in-Chief and reorganized the 3 battalions and 25 guards under his command, strengthening training and fortifying Shandong’s maritime defenses, which kept the pirates at bay...
