Yangzhong Ancient Town is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Yangzhong Ancient Town is located in the western part of Jiaocheng District, Ningde City, Fujian Province. Provincial Highway Ninggu runs through the town, which sits at an elevation of 340 meters. With a mild climate, abundant rainfall, and beautiful landscapes of mountains and clear waters, it serves as the political, economic, cultural, educational, and transportation hub of western Jiaocheng District. The town centers around eco-agriculture and its processing industries, while also integrating commerce, tourism, and leisure. It is known as a livable town and is often referred to as the “Pride of Western Jiaocheng.”

Yangzhong Ancient Town is home to three rivers: Yangzhong Stream, Dongshan Stream, and Chenyang Stream. The town is surrounded by the southeastern foothills of the Jiufeng Mountain Range, where peaks of various shapes form scenic views such as the “Coiled Dragon and Green Lion,” “White Elephant Drinking Water,” and the “Crouching Tiger.” The town has a rich cultural heritage and has produced many talented individuals. It is the hometown of Zhou Dao, Fujian’s first prime minister, Zhou Bin, a master of the Imperial College, and Chen Ji, a loyal and honorable official. Chen Yimou of the Qing Dynasty once praised Yangzhong as a place “where the land is blessed, the people are outstanding, and the surroundings are pristine, with successive achievements and an atmosphere of celebration.” The town is also known as the “Land of Literature.” In March 2016, Yangzhong Ancient Town became the district’s fourth national AAA-level tourist attraction.
