Ningde Tianhou Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province.

Description: Commonly known as the Mazu Temple, it was first built in 1762 during the 27th year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty, and its main hall was reconstructed in 1851, the first year of the Xianfeng reign. Covering an area of over 2,400 square meters, the main hall is five bays wide and five bays deep, and contains four hollow-carved stone dragon pillars and two relief-carved stone phoenix pillars from 1851. In August 1937, the CPC Mindong Special Committee and the Kuomintang authorities negotiated here to reach an “Agreement on Ceasing the Civil War and Cooperating Against Japan.” The affiliated cultural relic, Bi Quan Well, is located about 10 meters to the rear left of the temple. Built in 1774, the 39th year of the Qianlong reign, the well is enclosed by rectangular stone slabs, is 4.6 meters deep, and is still in use today.

Protected area: Front extends to Fuhai Market, rear to the bamboo forest on the hill behind, right to Hefeng Commercial Building, and left to 15 meters beyond the surrounding wall.

In 2009, Ningde Tianhou Temple was designated as part of the seventh batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.

Jiaonan Subdistrict: Located in the southeastern part of Jiaocheng District, Ningde City, Fujian Province, Jiaonan Subdistrict governs 11 communities. National Highway 104 passes through the area.
