Training Site of the Mindong Independent Brigade

The Training Site of the Mindong Independent Brigade is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

The Training Site of the Mindong Independent Brigade is located in Wenfeng Village, Huzhen, Jiaocheng District, Ningde City, dating back to 1937–1938.

Description: Originally a late Qing Dynasty civilian residence, it faces south with the main entrance to the north, consisting of a front gate, front courtyard, main gate, front patio and side wing rooms, main hall, back patio, rear building, left and right wing rooms, and backyard, covering an area of 858.2 square meters. In the winter of 1937, the Mindong Red Army guerrilla units and county-based guerrilla forces gradually gathered in Taohuaxi, Ningde, for reorganization. Subsequently, the three columns of the Red Army and the brigade headquarters moved to Hushitang Village for over two months of intensive training. The Red Army set up multiple training grounds in the village. During the day, soldiers practiced military drills such as grenade throwing and shooting, and at night they studied literacy. Anti-Japanese enthusiasm ran high, and the troop strength grew from just over 700 during the initial reorganization to 1,300. During this period, the brigade also established an armory and a uniform production workshop. On January 24, 1938, the Mindong Red Army was officially reorganized into the 6th Regiment of the 3rd Battalion of the newly formed 4th Army of the National Revolutionary Army. Led by Regiment Commander Ye Fei and Deputy Commander Ruan Yingping, it consisted of three battalions and was dispatched to Tangkou, Pingnan County, for assembly. On February 14, they headed to the Su-Wan anti-Japanese front.

In 2018, the Training Site of the Mindong Independent Brigade was designated as part of the ninth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage protection units by the People's Government of Fujian Province.

Protected area: An extension of 20 meters outward from all sides of the building.
