The Dayou Mountain Ecotourism Area is located 15 kilometers northwest of downtown Sanming, covering an area of 12 square kilometers. Its main peak, Dayou Mountain, stands at an elevation of 1,276.3 meters.

The area features typical volcanic rock landforms, characterized by terrestrial volcaniclastic sedimentation and volcanic eruptive structures. It presents a dramatic landscape of solitary peaks piercing the clouds and towering over surrounding summits, sculpting a tourist image of cascading waterfalls, serene gorges, steep cliffs, and lifelike rock formations. The region enjoys a pleasant climate with distinct vertical zonation—scorching summers, freezing winters, warm springs, and cool autumns, offering scenic beauty in all four seasons. As a sacred and historic mountain, it boasts enchanting scenery and captivating legends.

Both the Ming Dynasty’s *Eight Provinces General Gazetteer*, the Qing Dynasty’s *Shaxian County Annals*, and the Republican-era *Fujian General Gazetteer* contain extensive descriptions of the splendid scenery of Dayou. Sites such as Yanzuo Peak, Juxing Stone, Wangyou Stone, Jiangmo Stone, Tianwei Stone, Cangyun Wu, and Guiyun Cave... are all recorded. Locals have long regarded Dayou Mountain as an auspicious sacred site. The mountain is home to Puzhao Temple, which enjoys flourishing incense offerings. Since the Song Dynasty, literati and poets have visited Dayou Mountain to compose poetry and prose. Luo Ji, a Song Dynasty scholar-official and Minister of War, once wrote verses praising the mountain.

Every fifteenth day of the lunar month at dawn, one can witness the rare celestial phenomenon of the sun and moon shining side by side from the mountaintop—a symbolic sight known as “Sun and Moon in Harmony,” representing the spirit of Sanming.

Fukou Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Shaxian District. Established as the Fukou District in 1952, it became the Dongfeng People's Commune in 1958, renamed Fukou Commune in 1963, upgraded to a township in 1984, and finally to a town in 1993. Located in the northwestern part of the county, it is 14 kilometers from the county seat. Covering an area of 233.1 square kilometers, it has a population of 15,000. The town administers 15 village committees: Fukou, Yandi, Baixikou, Yanci, Jianghou, Chicun, Yanghuakeng, Baixi, Liukeng, Heshan, Guodun, Duijikeng, Gai Zhu, Shantun, and Luoxi.
