The Former Site of the Special Branch of the CPC in Sha County – Xiamao Wenchang Palace is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

The Former Site of the Special Branch of the CPC in Sha County – Xiamao Wenchang Palace is located in Dongjie Village, Xiamao Town, Sha County, dating back to 1928.

Description: A Qing Dynasty–era building, facing south and situated to the north, consisting of the Bixiao Hall and Tianzhang Pavilion. In the summer of 1928, the first local CPC organization under the leadership of the Provisional Provincial Committee of the CPC Fujian in northwestern Fujian—the Special Branch of the CPC in Sha County—was founded at Xiamao Wenchang Palace, marking an important milestone in the revolutionary history of Sha County. During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, due to Xiamao’s strategic location, the Third Red Army Corps and the Eastern Army both used it as a forward base to advance into surrounding areas.

In 2018, the Former Site of the Special Branch of the CPC in Sha County – Xiamao Wenchang Palace was designated as part of the ninth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage protection units by the People’s Government of Fujian Province.

Protected area: Extend 20 meters outward from the east and west walls respectively, reaching the riverbank to the south and the provincial highway boundary to the north.

Dongjie Village: Located in the town center of Xiamao, Dongjie Village lies at a strategic junction connecting Sha County with neighboring counties such as Jiangle, Shunchang, and Guihua. It served both as the southern gateway to the Central Soviet Area and as a strategic stronghold for operations on the eastern front. It played a significant role and held a unique position in the establishment and development of the Sha County Soviet Area. It is 38 kilometers from Sha County.
