Former Site of the Luokeng Soviet Government

The former site of the Luokeng Soviet Government is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Fujian Province.

The former site of the Luokeng Soviet Government is located in Luokeng Village, Xiamao Town, Sha County. It dates back to 1934.

Description: Originally known as Taoyuan Cave, also called Taoyuan Cave Villa, it was first built in the eighth year of the Hongwu reign during the Ming Dynasty (1375). It consists of the Mahavira Hall, Kuixing Tower, ancient theater stage, Wenchang Emperor Hall, and the Hall of the God of Five Cereals. In January 1934, the Eastern Army liberated the urban area of Sha County and vast rural regions, subsequently establishing 17 grassroots Soviet governments including those in Luokeng, North District (now Fuku), Songlin, Ruyuan, Langkou, Cao Yuan, Gaoqiao, and Heshan. By the end of February 1934, the Sha County Soviet Government governed 3 districts and 27 township (village) Soviet governments, among which Taoyuan Cave served as the site of the Luokeng Soviet Government.

In 2018, the former site of the Luokeng Soviet Government was designated as part of the ninth batch of provincial-level cultural heritage protection units by the People's Government of Fujian Province.

Protected area: An extension of 20 meters outward from all sides of the building.

Luokeng Village: Luokeng Village in Xiamao Town, Sha County, is located in the northwest of Xiamao Town, approximately 6 kilometers from the town center. It administers 2 natural villages, 11 villager groups, and has a population of 443 households totaling 1,680 people. The village Party branch has 5 Party groups with 38 Party members. The total land area of the village is 7,071 mu, including 1,670 mu of arable land and 5,431 mu of forested land. Over 1,000 villagers are engaged in operating Sha County snacks outside the area.
