Zhuyuan Village

Zhuyuan Village is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Zhuyuan Village is located within Dabugang Town at the southern foot of Shaowu City, nestled at the base of the picturesque Daofeng Mountain. It borders Zhangcuo to the east, neighbors Taining and Jiangle counties to the southwest, and adjoins the urban outskirts to the north. The village is 34 kilometers from downtown Shaowu and 5 kilometers from the Heping interchange on the Fuyin Expressway, and is in close proximity to 4A-level scenic spots such as Heping Ancient Town and Tiancheng Qixia. The village covers an area of 16.26 square kilometers, with over 400 households and a population of around 1,500 people. It administers 8 natural villages and 12 villager groups.

Backed by Daofeng Mountain, Zhuyuan Village benefits from the mountain’s profound history and breathtaking scenery. Daofeng Mountain is the only historically named mountain in Shaowu City to have been bestowed its title by imperial decree. With an elevation of 1,487 meters, it is known as the “Five-Terrace Wonderland.” The continuous ranges of mountains, crafted by nature’s masterful hand, feature 36 scenic spots—each one captivating—making it a much-sought-after destination for travelers.

At the entrance of Zhuyuan Village lies a feng shui forest spanning over 20 acres, adding a richly colored touch to the spiritual aura of Daofeng Mountain. This forest is home to more than 100 ancient trees that are over a thousand years old, including metasequoia, camphor trees, pines, and castanopsis. As part of the beautiful countryside development project, an ornamental pond, cascading waterfalls, and an ancient post road were built here, creating a picturesque scene of ancient trees cradling a jade-green pool, which in turn leads to quaint homes.

On the main street of Zhuyuan Village stands an idle two-story building constructed in the 1960s, located to the northeast and facing south. Covering an area of over 160 square meters, its earthen walls are covered with lush green ivy, giving it a distinctive retro charm. It has now been transformed into a “Nostalgia Museum,” and also serves as the “Fujian Minmeng Calligraphy and Painting Society Creative Base” and the Shaowu Local Genealogy Museum, providing a platform for people to “reminisce about nostalgia and share hometown sentiments.”
