Li Gang Ancestral Hall

The Li Gang Ancestral Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Fujian Province.

Li Gang Ancestral Hall: Located at No. 186, Li Gang Road, Wusi Community Neighborhood Committee, Tongtai Subdistrict, Shaowu City, Nanping City, Fujian Province, it was originally called the “Ancestral Hall of Lord Li, Duke of Zhongding, Grand Tutor, and Prime Minister.” It was first built in 1186 during the Chunxi era of the Southern Song Dynasty, and after several relocations, it was reconstructed at its current site in 1683 during the 22nd year of the Kangxi reign in the Qing Dynasty. It was renovated again in 1765 (the 30th year of Qianlong), 1835 (the 15th year of Daoguang), as well as in 1929 and 1938. In 1984, it was also converted into the “Li Gang Memorial Hall.” The ancestral hall faces south and has a construction area of 900 square meters. It consists of three courtyards—eastern, central, and western. The central courtyard’s axis from south to north includes a gate tower, main hall, and corridor rooms. The gate tower is 2.8 meters wide and 4 meters deep with a hip-and-gable roof. The main hall is 18.83 meters wide (five bays) and 11.2 meters deep (three bays), featuring a post-and-lintel wooden structure. The eastern annex hall in the eastern courtyard is built along the east gable wall of the main hall, measuring 12.83 meters wide and 8.28 meters deep, with a post-and-lintel structure and a half-hip-and-half-gable roof. A group of artificial rockeries were added to the courtyard later. The original buildings in the western courtyard have been completely destroyed. The Li Gang Ancestral Hall is part of the third batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units in Fujian Province.
