Heping Town has a long history. As early as over 4,000 years ago, ancestors of the Yue ethnic group settled and thrived here. Written records date back to the Tang Dynasty. It was called “Zhouri” (Daytime Splendor) in the Tang Dynasty, known as “Heping Li” during the Song and Yuan Dynasties, part of the Thirty-third District in the Ming Dynasty, established as Heping Sub-prefecture in the Qing Dynasty, designated as the Third District of Shaowu in the Republican era, and officially became Heping Town in 1950.
