The Baishuiyang Scenic Area is one of Fujian Province’s eight major tourism brands, renowned as a “world wonder and cosmic mystery” due to its unique geological and landform phenomena. According to geological experts, Baishuiyang is a rare shallow-water plaza in the world, formed by a massive rock stretching across the bottom of the water, covering an area of 80,000 square meters, and seamlessly integrated with the surrounding mountains. The surface of the rock is as smooth as a whetstone, seamless and free of moss. Water is evenly distributed over the rock, only reaching ankle-deep. Under the sunlight, the clear water sparkles like silver, creating a truly marvelous sight. The Baishuiyang Geopark also boasts the world’s only Mandarin Duck and Macaque

Transportation: Arrive at Fuzhou, the capital of Fujian Province. There are many long-distance buses from Fuzhou Bus Station to Pingnan.

Travel time: Five and a half hours. Driving takes about four hours.

New transportation option added in 2007: The secondary road from Ningde to Pingnan has been opened. Flights to Changle Airport also offer many direct bus services to Ningde, from where it's a quick trip to Pingnan.

About hotels in Pingnan: Hotels in Pingnan have increased significantly in the past two years, but most are converted residential homes. However, there are some exceptions, such as the well-known and higher-quality Bayi Hotel and Tianwaitian, which are relatively new, with more formal and comprehensive service facilities.
