Xiabanshi Bridge

Xiabanshi Bridge is a cultural relic protection unit of Zhenghe County.

Xiabanshi Bridge is a county-level key cultural relic protection unit. Located on the Dangxi Stream in Xiabanshi Natural Village, Wangdacuo Village, Yangyuan Township, it is a typical eight-character-braced wooden arch covered bridge. It was first built in October of the seventh year of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty (1827), rebuilt in August of the eleventh year of the Guangxu reign (1885), and the current structure was renovated in June 1987. The bridge is 37.5 meters long, 4.5 meters wide, with an arch span of 18.5 meters and stands 7.5 meters above the water surface. The bridge house features a post-and-lintel wooden frame with a single-eave gable roof. The bridge corridor has 48 pillars arranged in 11 bays. Both sides are equipped with wooden railings and three-tiered eaves, along with various decorative patterned windows. The master carpenters responsible for the reconstruction during the Guangxu period were Lin Shiguang and Lin Shibing from Shanghexi, Shouning County.

Wangdacuo Village: Wangdacuo Village was established during the Song Dynasty by the Huang family and was originally named Huangdacuo before being renamed Wangdacuo. By the end of the Republican era, the village had 44 residences housing 82 households with 320 residents. In 1988, the village had 74 residences with 115 households totaling 560 people, including four brick-and-wood structures and the rest being two-story earthen-and-wood buildings. The village is situated along the highway, offering convenient transportation. At the back of the village on the mountainside lies a fengshui forest with about 20 ancient Torreya grandis trees. It currently serves as the seat of Wangdacuo Administrative Village.
