Huguo Temple

Huguo Temple is a cultural tourism attraction.

Huguo Temple is located at the foot of Lotus Peak in Fenglin Village, Tieshan Town. It was first built in the fourth year of the Tianfu era of the Later Jin Dynasty during the Five Dynasties period (940 AD) by Monk Zhangxuan, and was rebuilt through donations by Monk Xingjing in the 50th year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty (1711 AD). To the west of the temple lies the tomb of Zhu Sen, grandfather of the Song Dynasty Neo-Confucian scholar Zhu Xi, and to the north is the tomb of Lu Liang, who served as the Guangdong Maritime Trade Superintendent and later became the Salt Commissioner of the Lianghuai Region during the Ming Dynasty. Both tombs are county-level cultural heritage protection units. In the 14th year of the Chenghua reign of the Ming Dynasty (1478 AD), Zhou Mengzhong, an educational official from Fujian, along with local gentry Wu Xianyan and Wang Chuang, built the Qixian Ancestral Hall to the left of the temple, which later collapsed. In 2000, local residents reconstructed the Zhu Zi Ancestral Hall on the original site. It is a two-tiered, upturned-eave hall that houses a statue of Zhu Xi.
